My dog walking is a joy these Autumn days – I took some photos a couple of days ago and turned them into digital paintings – just because I can!  My artwork has had the feeling of fall for the past few weeks, but then it is probably my favourite season. I love the smells, and the colour – there is nothing to compare with a sun infused Autumn day. What I see informs what I create – here are a few Autumn creations in my sites at Society6 and Redbubble and at Etsy. I love finding the beauty in ordinary – very Zen!

And a highlight for me this Autumn was being featured in a beautiful digital magazine Nurture, where I got to share how I love my creative work. You can find the link here  Volume 5 Nurture & Bloom

Experimental – this weeks photo challenge

I don’t  stop experimenting with my photography but in this case the experimentation was after the deed had been done, in the editing suite.  I love conker shells, and had to use these as a design for surface pattern at my site on Society 6.  There’s some smoke and mirrors going on!

The First Days of Autumn

Sometimes it Happens

And sometimes it happens that you are friends and then
 You are not friends,
 And friendship has passed.
And whole days are lost and among them
 A fountain empties itself.

And sometimes it happens that you are loved and then
 You are not loved,
 And love is past.
And whole days are lost and among them
A fountain empties itself into the grass.

And sometimes you want to speak to her and then
You do not want to speak,
 Then the opportunity has passed.
Your dreams flare up, they suddenly vanish.

And also it happens that there is nowhere to go and then
 There is somewhere to go,
 Then you have bypassed.
And the years flare up and are gone,
 Quicker than a minute.

 So you have nothing.
You wonder if these things matter and then
As soon you begin to wonder if these things matter
 They cease to matter,
 And caring is past.
And a fountain empties itself into the grass. Brian Patten

Dogwalking With Van Morrison

Dogwalking With Van Morrison

October sun; blinding,high,
reveals night-shift silk
spun and caught in carpet
of crisp Autumn fall.
Van’s vision,and
I’m feeling his sense
of wonder.
Dog shares ecstatic
suspended moments,
appreciating too, the master’s
fiery vision bright;
and misses a squirrel
fancying it’s chances,
one too nonchalent
to care , sensing engagement
elsewhere.
Pete’s seen squirrels before;
he’ll see them again.
What matters is the now,
nose down in
unmentionable odours
too potent to ignore.
I did walk the dog this morning, though this time it was Digger, not Pete  as sadly he fell and never recovered the fall, breaking his back after sliding off a rock.  It was a loss, but we couldn’t help but feel it was the best way for a dog to go – living  a life full of joy and freedom, chasing after something that had caught his nose.
The photo too tells of  a different Autumn, a holiday in October taken in the Scottish highlands. Where better to be amongst the colours of Autumn. Off up there soon , cannot wait!
