A Digital Illustration of a model lily by Brendel. These models were crafted in the late nineteenth and early 20th century and mainly made from papier mache and wood. They were used as alternatives to living botanical specimens for study. I like the idea of the camera ‘lying’, using a representation of a living object and then producing a digital image, so what you end up with is an image of a painting of a model of a flower. Layers upon layers. Life as we know it.
